I want to start taking driving lessons. What should I do first?

To begin taking lessons on a public road, you must have a valid Provisional Licence. If you don't already have one, you can apply quickly and easily online by clicking HERE. You can also apply for your licence by post by completing a D1 application form, available from most Post Offices.
How old do I need to be to learn to drive?

The minimum legal age at which you can drive a car on the public roads is currently 17. If you are disabled and in receipt of mobility allowance, the minimum legal age is 16.
How many lessons will I need?

We recommend a minimum of 1 lesson of 1.5 hours duration per week, but how often you have lessons, and their duration, is entirely your choice. The more time you spend in the car however, the quicker you will learn and the more money you will save.
As a rough guide, an average pupil taking 1 hour per week would take approximately 8 months to 1 year to learn to drive.
I am very nervous about learning to drive. What can you do to help me?

I have been teaching people to drive for over 16 years now, and have come across many nervous students in my time. The first thing that you should realise is that being nervous is completely normal.
You are considering learning a new skill, and one, which for most people is not a natural one.
I do not use any 'magical training formulas' in my instruction, quite simply because they do not exist. What you will receive is plenty of patience, understanding and good communication, helping you to build confidence in a safe and friendly environment.
What is your pass rate?

The national pass rate is currently around 42%. At driveCLUB, we are very proud to have a pass rate that is currently exceeding 85% for 1st time passes. You may also wish to consider the fact that this pass rate is my personal pass rate, whereas pass rates advertised by the larger driving schools are an overall picture, and not an expression of one particular instructor.
